Typhoon No. 10 that struck Iwate on August 30, 2016 brought Iwate and Hokkaido heavy damages. After the disaster caused, researchers Research Center for Regional Disaster Management investigated the flood, earth and sand disaster immediately. We report a summary of the findings.

3.16 students joined a summer school that was held by Rottenburg University.
We have interacted with them for 4 years. The theme of this year was “The forest and human being society". There were lecture in English about the present conditions of the multipurpose use form and forest environmental education in Germany and a discussion. In addition, on-site practical visit was performed.

6. A research group of Assistant professor, Naohiro Nishikawa won a prize in 9th MIRAI international conference.
Outline of the society:
The international society was held on 17 August 2016 in Macau University in China.

4.From September 19(Mon) to 23(Fri), two Iwate University students and an Iwate Prefectural University student visited Indonesia National University Ganesha Education University Language Faculty of Arts.
They visited an elementary school in Singaraja. The main purpose of their activities was to practice environmental education to elementary school children.
In addition, about 100 5th and 6th graders enjoyed a game to think about the protection of endemic bird, "crested white musk that live only in Bali, Indonesia.

4. The 29th Annual Conference on Odor Environment was held from August 30, 2016 to August 31, 2016. Mituya Masao of Graduate School of Agriculture, Iwate University won the Best Presentation Award in Oral presentationscategory.

3. We conducted a project "Revival Kenji" to commemorate Kenji Miyazawa’s 120th birth. Kenji Miyazawa is one of the most famous poets in Japan. From 1915 to 1920, he was enrolled in The Imperial College of Agriculture and Foresty in Morioka. On September 8, Mr. Kazuki Miyazawa, who is Kenji's brother-Seiroku's grandson, gave a lecture about Kenji.

1. Iwate University Graduate School of Agriculture Animal Sciences First grade Mr. Ryunosuke Watanabe was awarded the Best Presentation Award (Oral presentation) of the 66th Tohoku Society of Animal Science tournament in Aiina in Morioka, which was held from September 6 to 7.

2. On August 28, Iwate University junior high school Brass Band Club was awarded the gold medal in All-Japan Band Competition 59th Tohoku tournament held in Iwate Prefectural Hall.
In this contest for junior high school students, 24 schools were selected in each prefectural tournament, and six teams from Tohoku prefectures participated.
Though unfortunately we couldn’t win a ticket to the national tournament, The Gold Award in the Northeast tournament is the first honor for our team.

4. University Research Forest has been certified as "education-related joint-use base". Two facilities of Faculty of Agriculture Field Science Center, Omyoujin University Research Forest and Takizawa University Research Forest have been certified as education-related joint-use base.
