Resumption of Extracurricular Activities Related to New Coronavirus Infections

Due to a sharp increase in the number of people infected with the new strain of coronavirus (Omicron strain) at Iwate University, extracurricular activities have been banned since Friday, April 15, 2022. However, due to the recent decrease in the number of cases of infection nationwide and in Iwate Prefecture, the University's Crisis Management Committee discussed the resumption of activities, and as the number of cases of infection at the University remained at a low level for two consecutive weeks, the University has decided to resume extracurricular activities from June 20, 2022 (Monday).
However, the infection among students at the University has not yet ended, and the main reasons for this are karaoke and drinking parties.
Please be aware of the following points and raise your individual awareness before engaging in extracurricular activities.

The following are the rules for extracurricular activities.

1. As before, only groups that have submitted an activity plan with infection prevention measures to the Student Support Division in advance and obtained permission can engage in activities.
2. For those clubs that applied for permission during the period of suspension, even after resumption of activities, we ask for your cooperation in preventing the introduction of infection into the campus through PCR or antigen testing after each international match or inter-prefectural expedition. For circles and clubs that have suspended their activities, please make sure to confirm the precautions for their activities at the counter No. 8 when submitting the activity notification.
3. Please take basic infection prevention measures such as avoiding the 3 densities, wearing masks, washing hands, gargling, and coughing etiquette.
4. When participating in conventions/events, please follow the infection prevention measures set forth by the organizers.
5. Participation in conventions and events is generally limited to one-day trips. If an overnight stay is unavoidable, please stay in a private room as much as possible.
6. Avoid eating and drinking in large groups or for long periods of time, and generally, be silent while you are eating or drinking. When eating or drinking, please eat in silence as a rule and wear a mask when conversing.
7. Drinking parties and karaoke parties are strictly prohibited.
8. The University has prepared a flowchart (from the University website: for dealing with infections at the University. Please contact the Health Service Center, etc. by following this flowchart if you feel ill.
