Alumni Association for Iwate University International Students

Objectives

Our aim is to strengthen ties with international alumni who are active in different regions around the world, and in so doing create a network that includes our university and its current students and contribute to the globalization and development of our university and local community.

Eligibility

  • (1) International students who were enrolled in Iwate University, including undergraduate students, graduate students, international exchange students, and research students
  • (2) Former foreign national teaching staff who were employed at Iwate University, and those who merit special consideration from the university and have been specially acknowledged by the President

Actions Taken to Date

(1) Holding social gatherings for alumni
We have held social gatherings for international student alumni in Japan and overseas since 2015, creating opportunities to inform graduates and former course participants of the reforms and initiatives the university is promoting, and to hear honest opinions on the university's education, research, and social contributions. We have deepened our friendships with over 100 international student alumni, enabling us to convey our thoughts and love for Iwate University and Iwate, and have confidence that Iwate is a second hometown to you. During the social gatherings, we introduce alumni to the university's current status and to recent initiatives, deepening your understanding of Iwate University today and creating good opportunities to exchange opinions.

Establishing Alumni Association Branches in Different Areas

We have set up different alumni association branches in each region where we have built up an alumni network. Under the alumni who serve as leaders of each region and the alumni organization, we have founded the Alumni Association for Iwate University International Students.

We are actively working to set up branches in Malaysia, Shanghai, Beijing, Kaohsiung, and Morioka in the future.

How to establish a branch

  • (1) Submit a notification of the establishment of the branch to the head of Iwate University's International Liaison Center (reference appended form 1) <- paste link here
  • (2) Hold an event for the establishment of the branch (depending on the time of year, university personnel may attend)
  • (3) Management, etc., is to be carried out at the branch's discretion.
  • (4) Hold activities

  • (1) Information exchanges, interaction, and collaborative activities with branch members
  • (2) Information exchanges, interaction, and collaborative activities with Iwate University
  • (3) Information exchanges, interaction, and collaborative activities with other branches
  • (4) Information exchanges and interaction with the Iwate University International Students Group (students enrolled at the university) (including job-hunting activities)
  • (5) Information exchanges and interaction with current Japanese students of Iwate University (overseas travel programs, etc.)
  • (6) Friendly exchange activities with the Iwate region

Founding the Alumni Associaion for Iwate University International Students and holding a Homecoming Day

We held a convention for the foundation of the Alumni Association in November 2019, as an event commemorating Iwate University's 70th anniversary.

Declaration of the Establishment of
Alumni Association for Iwate University International Students

On November 14, 2019, international alumni and existing international students of Iwate University who participated in the Inaugural Meeting of the Alumni Association for Iwate University International Students hereby declare the establishment of the Alumni Association for Iwate University International Students for the purpose of building a network among alumni, Iwate University and its current students through reinforcing collaboration among international alumni who play vital roles in different parts of the world and with an aim to contribute to the globalization and development of the university and local community.
