Icelandic music has a deep and storied tradition, with many songs still sung today, passed down through generations. During the event, Helgi-san provided an engaging overview of Icelandic music, explaining that it encompasses both folk and modern pop traditions. He shared that Icelandic folk songs often tell stories of hard winters, the ocean, and the adventures of sailors, as well as mythological tales featuring trolls and elves. In addition to traditional folk music, Iceland has a lively and growing modern music scene.. Helgi-san highlighted that country music is particularly popular in Iceland, along with Icelandic rock, alternative music, and genres that resonate with younger generations, such as rap, hip-hop, techno, and pop. One of the most significant events in Iceland's musical calendar is Þjóðhátíð, the largest music festival held annually on the island of Vestmannaeyjar (the Westman Islands). Helgi-san highly recommended this festival to anyone planning to visit Iceland, as it offers a unique opportunity to experience Icelandic culture through music.

An interesting aspect of Icelandic music is its unique Christmas songs. Helgi-san explained that many traditional Icelandic Christmas songs are actually adaptations of old Italian songs, a fascinating cross-cultural connection.
