Discovery Day: Explore Towada and Oirase Valley

On Saturday, July 6, 2024, we went on a well-planned field trip organized by the Iwate University International Office. Although it had been raining a few days earlier, the weather was clear on that day, allowing us to travel together comfortably. We had a wonderful time exploring both cultural sites and beautiful natural scenery.

The day started with everyone meeting at the Iwate University Library. We left at 8:30 a.m., filled with excitement to explore the day's destinations. Around 9:45 a.m., the bus briefly stopped at the Oritsume parking area. This break allowed us to stretch, refresh, and get ready for the next part of our trip.

We arrived at the Towada Art Center at 11:10 a.m., this place was particularly delightful for art lovers, offering a chance to experience contemporary works in a peaceful environment. The museum's impressive collection and engaging exhibitions provided a stimulating experience. Our international friends enjoyed exploring and taking memorable photos both inside and outside the museum, appreciating the cultural and artistic significance of the displayed works.

After finishing the art tour, we continued to our lunch stop at the Towadapia roadside station at 12:40 p.m. Here, we had a delicious meal of ramen and soba, refueled ourselves, and got the opportunity to buy local souvenirs, such as famous apple juice from Aomori city. At 1:30 p.m., we continued our journey to Oirase Gorge, which originates as the outflow from Lake Towada, starting at the Nenokuchi area of the lake and flowing towards Yasumiya.Visitors can hike along a scenic 9-kilometer trail along the upper stream, from Nenokuchi to Ishigedo. The path from Choshiotaki to Shiraito Falls offered stunning views of the area's natural beauty. We enjoyed a serene walk, listening to waterfalls and seeing lush green surroundings. Our last stop of the day was at the Hakka Touge observatory at 4:20 p.m. We took a brief pause to appreciate the breathtaking views of Lake Towada from there.

We returned to campus by 6:30 p.m., concluding a well-organized and enjoyable day. The itinerary successfully balanced cultural exploration, artistic appreciation, and natural beauty, providing a memorable and enriching experience for everyone during our studies at Iwate University.

ในวันเสาร์ที่ 6 กรกฎาคม 2024 พวกเรานักศึกษาต่างชาติ ได้เข้าร่วมทริปทัศนศึกษาที่จัดขึ้นโดยสำนักงานนานาชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยอิวาะเตะ แม้ว่าช่วงนั้นฝนจะตก แต่วันนั้นอากาศแจ่มใส เต็มใจให้เราได้ไปเที่ยวกัน ทำให้ผู้เข้าร่วมได้เต็มอิ่มกับวัฒนธรรมและความงามของธรรมชาติ

เริ่มต้นวันโดยผู้เข้าร่วมมารวมตัวกันเพื่อเช็คอินบริเวณหน้าอาคารห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยอิวาเตะพวกเราออกเดินทางกัน 8.30 น. ทุกคนต่างตื่นเต้นกับการเดินทางที่จะได้ไปสำรวจจุดหมายปลายทางในครั้งนี้

รถบัสมาถึงบริเวณที่จอดรถโอริสึเมะเพื่อแวะพักสั้นๆ ในเวลาประมาณ 9.45 น. การแวะพักครั้งนี้ถือเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่จะได้ยืดเส้นยืดสายและดื่มเครื่องดื่มรับความสดชื่นสักแก้วก่อนเดินทางต่อ พวกเรามาถึงที่พิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะร่วมสมัย เมืองโทวาดะ เวลา 11:10 น. ซึ่งที่แห่งนี้ถือเป็นไฮไลท์สำหรับผู้ชื่นชอบงานศิลปะ โดยนำเสนอผลงานร่วมสมัยที่ไม่เหมือนใครท่ามกลางบรรยากาศอันเงียบสงบ คอลเลกชันที่น่าประทับใจและนิทรรศการที่สวยงามของพิพิธภัณฑ์ให้ประสบการณ์ที่น่าตื่นเต้น ทุกคนเดินเล่น และถ่ายรูปเก็บภาพเป็นที่ระลึกอย่างสนุกสนาน ทั้งด้านใน แล้วด้านนอกของพิพิธภัณฑ์ นับเป็นช่วงเวลาที่สนุกมาก และได้รู้สึกถึงคุณค่าทางวัฒนธรรม และแนวคิดในการออกแบบของศิลปินผู้สร้างสรรค์ผลงาน

เมื่อถึงเวลา 12:20 น. ถึงเวลาที่ต้องเดินหน้าต่อไป เพื่อไปรับประทานอาหารกลางวันเวลา 12:40 น. ที่สถานีริมทางโทวาดาเปีย พวกเรา เติมพลังกันด้วยราเมง และโซบะ อีกทั้งยังได้แวะซื้อของฝากของที่ระลึกกัน อย่าง น้ำแอปเปิ้ล ที่ขึ้นชื่อ เรื่องความหอมหวาน อร่อย เป็นของดังของเมือง อาโอโมริจากนั้นเราได้เดินทางต่อไปยังลำธารโออิราเสะ เส้นทางชมวิวจากโชชิโอตากิไปยังน้ำตกชิราอิโตะแสดงให้เห็นความงามทางธรรมชาติอันน่าทึ่งของภูมิภาค พวกเราสนุกสนานขณะเดินทางสำรวจภูมิทัศน์ที่งดงาม การเดินนี้เป็นการพักผ่อนอันเงียบสงบ พร้อมเสียงน้ำตกและต้นไม้เขียวขจี เสร็จแล้วเราได้ แวะจอดสุดท้ายที่ Hakka touge observatory เวลา 16:20 น. เพื่อพักระยะสั้นๆ ผ่อนคลายชมวิวของ ทะเลสาบโทวาดะ ก่อนมุ่งหน้ากลับไปยังมหาวิทยาลัยอิวาเตะ

พวกเราได้เดินทางกลับถึงมหาวิทยาลัยภายในเวลา 18.30 น. ถือเป็นการสิ้นสุดวันที่เต็มไปด้วยความสุขและการจัดการที่ดี โดยรวมแล้ว ถือเป็นทริปที่มีความสมดุลที่ระหว่างการสำรวจวัฒนธรรม ศิลปะ และความงามของธรรมชาติ ทำให้พวกเรานักศึกษาต่างชาติได้รับประสบการณ์ที่น่าจดจำและมีคุณค่าอย่างมาก ในขณะที่ศึกษาอยู่ที่มหาวิทยาลัยอิวาเตะ

During this time, if you happen to pass by the store, you might notice a special spot set up for writing messages on strips of paper, which are then hung up to decorate trees. Have you ever heard of this activity before? Wondering what you should write? Today, we introduce you to another traditional Japanese summer festival: the Tanabata festival.

Tanabata-no-sekku, also known as the Star Festival, used to be celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, but now it's typically on July 7th or later across Japan. This festival traces back to ancient Chinese stories about two lovers, Orihime (Vega, the Weaver) and Hikoboshi (Altair, the Cowherd), who can only meet once a year by crossing the Milky Way. It became super popular during the Edo period as a festival for everyone to enjoy. People write their wishes on long, colorful strips of paper called Tanzaku and hang them from bamboo branches.

During Tanabata, you'll find many places in Japan decked out with unique decorations like bamboo trees covered in wishing papers, paper lanterns, and other pretty paper ornaments. One of the coolest traditions is writing your wishes on rectangular Tanzaku paper and tying them onto bamboo.

Tanzaku papers come in different colors, and each color originally stood for something special:

Blue: Growth and progress

Red: Thanks and good wishes for parents

Yellow: Relationships

Pink: Love

White: Determination to succeed

Purple: Learning and examination

Nowadays, there are even more colors and meanings. According to Japanese belief, if you write your wish on a Tanzaku and hang it on a bamboo tree, your wish might just come true.

If you spot a place with a Tanzaku-writing corner, join in and write down your hopes. Here's hoping everyone's wishes get granted just as they wish!

สีเหลือง: ความสัมพันธ์

สีชมพู: ความรัก

สีขาว : ความมุ่งมั่นที่จะประสบความสำเร็จ

สีม่วง: การเรียนรู้และการสอบ

ปัจจุบันมีสีและความหมายเพิ่มมากขึ้น ตามความเชื่อของญี่ปุ่น หากได้เขียนคำอธิษฐานลงบนทันซากุและแขวนไว้บนต้นไผ่ ความปรารถนาก็อาจเป็นจริงก็ได้
